WCS Awards Board Scholarships to support critical-need certifications

WARSAW — Warsaw Community Schools (WCS) recognized five recipients of the 2025 Board Scholarships at its board meeting on Tuesday.

These scholarships, awarded to current WCS employees, are designed to support professional growth in certification areas identified as high-need.

The selection committee reviewed all applications using a detailed rubric to evaluate each applicant’s chosen certification, how it would enhance their ability to support the WCS mission and their long-term plans and commitment to the district and its students.

This year’s recipients are:

  • Norma Terrazas — Pursuing Transition to Teaching program with the goal to teach in the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Spanish program

  • Lauren Sponseller — Pursuing certification in school psychology

  • Evan Gregory — Pursuing certification in special education

  • Bailee Foreman — Pursuing dual credit licensure in mathematics

  • Jonathan McDillon — Pursuing dual credit licensure in science

Dr. Hoffert, Superintendent of Warsaw Community Schools, shared, “We believe strongly in the professional growth of our employees. Over the past 6 years, WCS has been able to scholarship over 150 teachers and staff to advance their degrees. We are proud of the commitment these five individuals are making to advance their education.”

WCS extends its appreciation to all applicants and looks forward to the positive impact these certifications will bring to students and programs across the district.
