Unborn child dies, three sent to hospital in Saturday crash in Warsaw

WARSAW — A car crash Saturday in Warsaw injured three people and claimed the life of an unborn baby.

The Times Union reports Warsaw police responded to the accident shortly after noon on Saturday at the intersection of East Old Road 30 and North County Road 225 East.

Sharon Zent, 39, had been traveling north on County Road 225 and had stopped at the intersection of Old Road 30 before attempting to cross the road. That’s when her vehicle collided with a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The Sentra then continued forward and ended up being hit by a pickup truck.

A pregnant juvenile passenger in Zent’s vehicle suffered significant injuries and was flown to a Fort Wayne hospital, where her unborn baby was pronounced dead.

Zent and two people in the Jeep were hospitalized.

Two people in the pickup avoided any serious injury.
