Two Illinois men wanted on various charges, taken into custody in Milford

MILFORD – Two Illinois men, including one who fled police but was apprehended two hours later, were taken into custody Friday night.

The situation unfolded when State Police, in cooperation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, attempted to serve a warrant shortly before 7 p.m. at a home at 508 W. First St. in Milford.

Jefferson Velasquez Pedrosa, 32, of Berwyn, Ill., was arrested on outstanding federal warrants for Bank Burglary and Bank Theft. 

Winyerber Acosta, 19, of Chicago, fled the residence on foot but was found about two hours later in a wooded area about a quarter mile away. 

Acosta, who was wanted on a warrant from Cook County, Ill., for Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, was being held at the Kosciusko County Jail.  

Pedrosa was taken to the St Joseph County Jail.

No other details were included in a news release from Indiana State Police early Saturday morning.

State Police were assisted by the FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Indiana Department of Natural Resources — Law Enforcement Division, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Warsaw Police Department, Milford Police Department, Syracuse Police Department, and the Silver Lake Police Department.
