Symphony of the Lakes Young Artist Competition offers $500 prize

WARSAW — Wagon Wheel’s Symphony of the Lakes, a part-time professional orchestra based in Warsaw, has announced plans for the 11th Annual Young Artist Statewide Competition.

Open to talented student musicians from across Indiana, this event offers the chance to win $500 and perform with Symphony of the Lakes.

The competition will take place on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at the Warsaw Community High School Performing Arts Center. Participants will compete in two categories: the Junior Division (Grades 5–8) and the Senior Division (Grades 9–12). Eligible instruments include orchestral strings (including harp), woodwinds, brass, and percussion.

Performances in the Junior Division will be held in the morning, followed by the Senior Division in the afternoon, and will conclude with an awards ceremony celebrating all participants. The event is free and open to the public, inviting the community to witness the next generation of Indiana’s musical talent.

Indiana is home to an extraordinary number of gifted young musicians, and this competition provides them with an opportunity not only to showcase their artistry but also to perform with one of the region’s premier professional orchestras.
