One dead in Sunday night accident involving three trucks on US 30 in Pierceton

A PIERCETON — A Sunday night crash on US 30 in Pierceton involving three trucks has left one person dead.
The accident happened at 8:16 p.m., according to a news release byKosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.
A preliminary investigation determined that two of the westbound semis were stopped on US 30 at the intersection of State Road 13 when a third semi struck the rear of one and continued forward, then struck the other before coming to rest, police said.
Richard L. Bacorn, 65, Orland Park, Ill., was driving the third vehicle that rear-ended the first. He was pronounced deceased by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office from injuries sustained in the crash.
The other drivers, Christopher Lee, 47, Fort Wayne, and John A. Lamourine, 41, Zanesville, Ohio, escaped injury.
The crash remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County FACT Team.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Kosciusko County 911 Dispatch, Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office, North Webster PD, Winona Lake PD, Warsaw- Wayne Fire Territory, Washington Township Fire Department, Lutheran EMS, and Reichert & Knepp Towing.
