WARSAW — Kosciusko County Economic Development Corp. celebrated its new office location on Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting with the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce.

KEDC0 had been on South Buffalo Street in a three-story building that was envisioned as a place to support startups and serve as a community workspace, but under Executive Director Peggy Friday, who took the helm in June of 2024, they’re getting back to the basics of economic development.

Moving away from downtown to a business park off Husky Trail on the city’s north side caught a few people off guard, but Friday said she thinks it’s a good move.

Friday said much of their communications involve email, phone calls and group meetings.

“We don’t get a lot of foot traffic,” she pointed out.

She said the new office at 2194 North Pointe Drive allows her full-time staff of five to have their own offices, and describes the new location as a perfect fit.

KEDCO has played a key role in helping attract Slate Auto and Auto Cam Medical, which will bring a combined 2,600 jobs to the community by the end of the year.

Friday said they’re working on housing projects with several smaller towns to help accommodate the growing workforce and help communities grow.

She was asked about other possibilities that might be looming in the near future.

“We’ve signed a few NDAs (non-disclosure agreements) for projects … It’s early in the stages (and) we’ve carried over some projects from last year — some business expansions we’re pretty excited about,” Friday said.
