WARSAW — Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County on Saturday celebrated its sixth anniversary of its ReStore on Corridor Drive in Warsaw.
The chapter recently received money to renovate and improve the Restore that has allowed them to add more staff and expand its ability to pick up times being donated.
New staff provides enough flexibility to be able to pick up its, including beds, refrigerators, sofas and many other large (or small) items anyone might want to donate.
Two of those employees will not spend much of their time in a box truck picking up donations, said Executive director Ben Logan.
“If you’re moving, you’re downsizing, you’re remodeling, you’re moving, this is the place to call if you have leftover items and you don’t know what to do with them,” Logan said.
Logan said the local Habitat chapter has seen profits from the ReStore gradually grow, and is benefiting their ability to build more houses, and he feels confident that the expanded pickup service will bolster that further.
Deliveries can happen within a week, he said.
The chapter has had a box truck for a few years, but adding staff will make the service more valuable.
“To keep growing, we just need more donations, and we need more people to know about us,” Logan said. “We meet people every week who say, ‘I did not know you existed.”
