WARSAW — Wongs restaurant, likely the oldest existing Chinese restaurant in Warsaw, has been shut down over a code violation and may not likely reopen.
Two signs previously posted in the storefront door on Anchorage Road announced the closing of the business.

Next to it was a notice from the Warsaw Wayne Fire Territory Fire Marshal, Jeremy Williams, announcing that the kitchen could not be used because of a code violation involving a kitchen vent system.
The problem was the potential buildup of grease-laden vapors in the air and on equipment because of the faulty vent system.
Williams explained the circumstances.
“Ultimately, they’re in their frying and cooking with all those woks, putting all that grease into the air … which is flammable,” Williams said. “It’s one spark away from creating a fire.”
The fire marshal was alerted to the situation by a third party, who had been hired to do maintenance.
An inspection happened on March 9 an order to cease all cooking operations was issued on March 13, Williams said.
A sign on the door said the building is for sale.
Photos of the signs were sent to New Now Warsaw, but have since been removed.
